In the cycling world, the key phrase is ‘copious and clear’.  There has never been a truer statement.  EVER! I feel like I should be issued a airline mileage or something as part of the Frequent Pissers Club (some blackout days apply, see your travel agent for actual bathroom arrangements).  I know it’s all part of adjusting to a well-hydrated lifestyle, but I feel like as soon as I start to focus on something, I have to go take a piss.  Heck, I have to go right now…

…and I’m back.  Yes, I washed my hands.

Let’s run the numbers.

Food Intake:

  • Breakfast – Fruit Smoothie – 355 calories
  • Lunch – Last of the leftover Popeye’s chicken and 28 delightful Blue Diamond Habanero Almonds – 530 calories
  • Snack – Brown Cow Blueberry Yogurt – 180 calories
  • Dinner – Bob Evans Chicken, Spinach and Tomato Pasta and a Fresh Fruit Cup – 674 calories
  • Snack 2 – 10 Green Olives (w/Pimento) – 50 calories

Total Calories: 1789

So tonight I decided to test my behavioral skills in a restaurant.  Sadly, that restaurant was Bob Evans.  Don’t get me wrong, Bob’s biscuits and sausage gravy are wonderful things, but that sort of thing was “off the table.”  They had some Memphis BBQ Chicken that looked good (yeah… I like chicken), but since I’d had on-the-bone chicken for lunch, it seemed redundant.

Anyway, I opted to give the ‘Fit on the Farm’ menu a shot.   The fruit cup was… a cup of fruit… cantaloupe, bananas, grapes and maybe a bit of apple.  Tasty.

The pasta on the other hand…

It was interesting.  Very overcooked (what appeared to be) egg noodles, spinach leaves, tomatoes diced very small and chicken bits ranging from overcooked to okay.  As far as I can tell the sauce was… tepid tap water.   No spices to speak of.  If I were making the dish at home, I would have used… well… any noodle other than egg noodles, and I would stop cooking it before it had the consistency of pudding skin.  I’d have resisted the urge to chop the tomatoes into bits so small that they are flavorless.  Wedges are key here, folks.  A good bite, nice texture and flavor.  Even if there’s just a few, it would have been preferable to a million tiny bitlets.  Now, when you are cutting quantity and fat and such, spices are a good thing.  How about a bit of garlic, salt and pepper?!?  I’m just saying.

The Brown Cow yogurt was interesting.  It succeeds in that it doesn’t taste of vomit like so many other yogurts.  The consistency was… runny… blebs of… whatever it is that makes up yogurt.  Not bad, but I think I’ll stick with my palate-approved Yoplait, Dannon and Stonyfield Farms (CHOCOLATE UNDERGROUND!!!).


The Stats According to Garmin

Because I opted to snag the chance to hang out with my wife and daughter, I only walked to work today.  Not both ways.  That means 4.33 miles and 1174 calories according to the Garmin.  Interestingly, I somehow managed to rip a pair of two-day old sandals during my walk.  Ripped the back right out.  Resultant slipping and sliding of the foot in the sandal yielded a whole crop of new blisters… YAY!

Looking at the heart rate chart, you’ll notice the first ten minutes were the “warm up” period for my heart.  The weird thing was I could feel it.  That moment when my heart hit running speed, and then went down a bit, felt like I went from the stiff morning stumbles and into gear.

But now… bed!
